Zurich (ZRH)
Switzerland

Zurich Airport (IATA: ZRH) is the largest international airport in Switzerland and the main hub of Swiss International Air Lines. It lies nine kilometres north of central Zurich, across the municipalities of Kloten, Rümlang, Oberglatt, Winkel and Opfikon in the canton of Zurich, and with its surface transport links it serves much of the rest of the country.
Readers of Condé Nast Traveller (UK) voted Zurich No. 5 among the world's airports in the Readers' Choice Awards 2026, with a score of 91.79. Skytrax ranks it No. 10 in its World Airport Awards 2025 list of the World's Top 100 Airports, which is based on votes by air travellers.
Before Kloten, Zurich's civil flights used the Dübendorf airfield, home to Swissair from 1932. In 1945 the Swiss federal parliament chose Zurich as the site of an intercontinental airport, and voters in the canton approved the building loan in a 1946 referendum by 105,705 votes to 29,372. The first runway opened on 14 June 1948, when a Swissair Douglas DC-4 took off for London, and by November 1948 all civil flight operations had moved from Dübendorf to Kloten.
