Cape Town International (CPT)
South Africa

Cape Town International Airport (IATA: CPT) is the main airport of Cape Town, South Africa, about 20 km from the city's central business district. It is the second-busiest airport in South Africa and the fourth-busiest in Africa, and the only airport in the Cape Town metropolitan area with scheduled passenger flights.
Condé Nast Traveller (UK) readers ranked Cape Town International No. 9 in the Readers' Choice Awards 2026 list of the best airports in the world, with a score of 88.24. Wikipedia adds that AirHelp put it at the top of its 2025 airport list, one place higher than a year earlier.
The airport opened in 1954 to replace Wingfield Aerodrome, and today it has domestic and international terminals linked by a central terminal. In 2011 the Cape Town–Johannesburg link ranked as the ninth-busiest air route in the world, carrying about 4.5 million passengers. According to Airports Company South Africa, it achieved an on-time performance of 90.42 per cent in 2025.
