Terms and Conditions
Last Updated: 22 October 2026
1. What this site is
The Hottest in the World (the "Site") is an independent site that ranks and comments on publicly available figures about the hottest people in the world. Each ranking entry names its source (for example Forbes, companiesmarketcap.com or Wikipedia) and the date of the figure. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated on behalf of any person or company named on it, any government agency, or any news outlet whose content is referenced. All trademarks belong to their owners.
2. Acceptance of these terms
By clicking Enter on the welcome dialog, or by otherwise accessing any page of the Site, you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you must leave the Site.
3. Editorial nature of the content
Most articles on the Site fall into one of three categories: feed (commentary written by Site editors and AI assistants under editorial supervision), Richest-news (curated headlines that link back to their original outlet), and briefing (daily summaries). Net worth figures are estimates by third parties and can differ between sources; they are not financial advice. The Site does not verify them independently.
4. Accuracy and no fabrication rule
The Site's editorial standard forbids the fabrication of quotes, numbers, names or dates. Daily articles may only use facts from the source headlines they link to. If you find a factual error, please tell us through the contact form on the Advertise page and we will correct or annotate it.
5. No investment advice
Nothing on the Site is investment, financial or tax advice. Coverage of Tesla, SpaceX or any other security is opinion. Do your own research before buying or selling any security.
6. Third-party content and fair use
Where the Site quotes, links to, or paraphrases material from third-party publishers (Reuters, AP, Bloomberg, CNBC, Electrek, SpaceNews, Wikipedia and others), those quotations and references are made under recognised fair-use / Zitatrecht principles for the purpose of commentary, criticism, and scholarship. All third-party content remains the property of its respective publisher. Images from Wikimedia Commons are used under their respective licences.
7. Intellectual property in Site-original content
Original articles, layouts, code, and editorial curation on the Site are the property of the Site operators. You may quote briefly with attribution and a link back to the source article. You may not republish articles in full without written permission.
8. Nominations, votes and payments
A paid nomination costs USD 199 and counts as the first vote; every further vote costs USD 1.99. Payment is by card (Stripe) or by bank transfer on an invoice, and nominations and votes appear on the boards only after we have received the payment. Paid votes rank the Spotlight; the official result on 31 December counts the number of different voters, so several votes from one person are one voter.
No refunds. Nominations, nomination fees, payments and votes are non-refundable.
Free nominations. A nominee who cannot afford the USD 199 fee can be nominated for free. The nomination activates when it has 101 votes. Our staff then research the nominee's finances and interview the nominee. If the nominee truly could not afford the fee, all 101 votes count as real votes and the nomination stays free. If the nominee could have paid, the first 100 votes pay the USD 199 fee and one additional vote counts.
If 101 votes are not reached. If a free nomination has not reached 101 votes by the end of the calendar year, the money paid for its votes is not refundable. We then send an e-mail to everyone who nominated or voted for that nominee and ask whether the nominee should be nominated again. Nominating again costs the person who replies nothing extra. If they say yes, the nominee is added to the pending nominations of the next year. If nobody replies, the money is donated to another pending nominee.
9. User conduct
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. Do not attempt to compromise the Site's security, disrupt the availability of the Site for others, scrape at abusive rates, or use the Site's contents to defame or harass any person.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
The Site is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. The Hottest in the World makes no warranties, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, or ongoing availability of any content, and specifically disclaims any liability arising from reliance on Site content for legal, financial, investment, medical, or investigative decisions.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Hottest in the World and its operators will not be liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of your use of, or inability to use, the Site.
12. Governing law and forum
These Terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably shall be brought before the courts of Bern, Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-laws provisions.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last Updated" date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the Site after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
