Sonay Kartal is a British professional tennis player who has climbed to a career-high No. 44 in singles and holds the British No. 1 spot after winning a WTA Tour title and 14 ITF crowns. The media call her hot because a rapid surge has turned a steady grinder into a headline act, and Wikipedia page views hover around 15 K a day as fans track the ascent.

Los Angeles Times reported that Kartal handed Elina Svitolina a loss at the Wuhan Open, while AP News noted she extended the streak by toppling Ostapenko to reach the final. BBC highlighted her return from a back injury and the new British No. 1 status, and ESPN Colombia quoted her saying she is healthy and back in form after the final defeat. ESPN recorded the loss to Maja Chwalinska in her first WTA 1000 final, and ESPN Colombia added that she became the lowest-ranked finalist at that level and secured a Top 50 ranking. ESPN República Dominicana outlined the ranking shake-up after Chwalinska's title.

She sits at No. 10 on the hottest athletes list, a place earned by a breakthrough fortnight that mixed injury comeback, giant-killing wins and a maiden WTA 1000 final. The combination of British leadership, a fearless playing style and a sudden spike in global attention keeps her rising.
