Scarlett Camberos

Scarlett Nefer Camberos Becerra is a forward born on 20 November 2000 in San Diego, California. She plays for Liga MX Femenil side Club América and, although born in the United States, represents the Mexico national team. She played college soccer for the UC Irvine Anteaters, where she was named Big West Conference Offensive Player of the Year in her senior season.
France Football and L'Équipe name her one of the 30 nominees on the Ballon d'Or Féminin 2026 shortlist, published in September 2026. Times of San Diego reported that she is the first Mexican female footballer ever nominated for the award.
Camberos signed her first professional contract with Club América at the end of 2021 and scored 11 goals in 16 games in the Clausura 2022. In 2023 she left for the NWSL, citing safety reasons after repeated online harassment, and played for Angel City and Bay FC before returning to América in July 2024. In May 2026 she scored a penalty in the Clausura final against Monterrey and lifted the trophy as captain, the club's third league title. That season América also won the CONCACAF W Champions Cup, where she was named best player of the tournament.
