Hainan Airlines

Hainan Airlines is a Chinese airline headquartered in Haikou on Hainan Island, with its main base at Haikou Meilan International Airport. It is the largest civilian-run air transport company in China and the country's fourth-largest airline by fleet size. Its hubs include Beijing Capital, Chongqing, Shenzhen and Xi'an.
Skytrax ranks Hainan Airlines No. 8 in its World's Top 100 Airlines for 2026. Besides its scheduled network, the airline also flies charter services.
The airline was set up in October 1989 as Hainan Province Airlines and became China's first joint-stock air transport company after a restructuring in January 1993; it took its current name in 1996. In 1998 it became the first Chinese carrier to own shares in an airport, buying a 25% stake in Haikou Meilan. Today it runs scheduled domestic and international services on 500 routes and ranks as the tenth-largest airline in Asia by passengers carried.
