ANA All Nippon Airways

All Nippon Airways (ANA) is Japan's largest airline, headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, ahead of its main rival Japan Airlines. It serves more than 100 domestic and international destinations from its main hubs at Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports. As of March 2024 it had about 12,800 employees, and it has been a member of Star Alliance since October 1999.
Skytrax ranks ANA No. 4 in its World's Top 100 Airlines for 2026, one place higher than its No. 5 in 2025. Condé Nast Traveller readers placed it No. 10 among the world's airlines in the Readers' Choice Awards 2025.
ANA traces its roots to Japan Helicopter and Aeroplane Transports Company, founded on 27 December 1952, which gave the airline its IATA code NH. Its first cargo flight, between Osaka and Tokyo on 15 December 1953, was the first scheduled flight flown by a Japanese pilot in postwar Japan, and the company took the name All Nippon Airways in December 1957. Besides its mainline operations, ANA controls subsidiaries such as ANA Wings, Air Japan and the low-cost carrier Peach Aviation.
