Korean Air

Korean Air is the flag carrier of South Korea and the country's largest airline by fleet size and international network. It is owned by the Hanjin Group, has its global headquarters in Seoul, and is a founding member of the SkyTeam alliance. Together with its cargo division it serves 126 cities in 44 countries.
AirlineRatings.com named Korean Air No. 1 among full-service airlines for 2025 and placed it No. 4 for 2026. Skytrax listed it No. 7 in the World's Top 100 Airlines for 2025 and No. 10 for 2026. In Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards 2026 it came No. 7 among international airlines.
The present company dates from 1 March 1969, when the Hanjin Group bought the state-owned Korean Air Lines. Wikipedia notes that around 1999 the airline had a poor safety reputation, and that this had improved significantly by 2009 after heavy investment in safety. Skytrax rates it as one of 11 five-star airlines (as of 2024), and in December 2024 it completed the acquisition of a major stake in Asiana Airlines.
