The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto

The Ritz-Carlton, Kyoto is a luxury hotel in Kyoto, Japan, overlooking the Kamogawa River.

Condé Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards 2026 place it No. 5 among the best hotels in the world. The magazine also lists it on its Gold List 2026 and among its Readers' Choice winners in 2017–2020 and 2024.

According to Condé Nast Traveler, it opened in 2014 as the first major international luxury brand in the old city, and it presents a contemporary take on ancient Kyoto in which luxury meets local discretion. Guest rooms feature carpets with cherry-blossom patterns, detailed woodwork, calligraphy artworks and large bathrooms.
