Mexico, officially the United Mexican States, is the northernmost country of Latin America, bordering the United States, Guatemala and Belize. It covers 1,972,550 square kilometres, the thirteenth-largest land area in the world, and with around 131 million people as of 2025 it is the tenth most populous country and home to the largest number of native Spanish speakers. Mexico City is its capital and largest city.

Ipsos puts Mexico No. 3 in its Happiness Index 2026, which surveyed 29 countries. Mexico News Daily has reported that the country is now "one of the top 10 happiest countries" in the world.

Mexico's history reaches back to the Mesoamerican civilisations of the Olmecs, Maya, Zapotecs and Teotihuacan, followed by Spanish colonisation from 1521, the War of Independence of 1810 to 1821 and the Revolution of 1910 to 1920. Today it is a federal republic of 32 states with the world's 13th-largest economy by nominal GDP. It ranks first in the Americas and seventh in the world for UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and with 42.2 million international arrivals in 2022 it was the sixth most visited country in the world.
