Bar Pompette

Toronto

Bar Pompette is a cocktail bar in the Little Italy neighbourhood of Toronto, Canada, opened in summer 2021 by Jonathan and Martine Bauer. Martine Bauer, formerly head chef at the official residence of the French Prime Minister, cooks the small plates.

Food & Wine ranks Bar Pompette No. 6 in its Global Tastemakers 2026 list of the best global bars, praising a proudly French bistro whose drinks look firmly to the future. Wikipedia lists placings on North America's 50 Best Bars from No. 15 in 2023 to No. 8 in 2026, and No. 55 on The World's 50 Best Bars in 2025, when it was the only Canadian bar on that list. It also topped Canada's 50 Best Bars in 2024 and 2025.

Signature drinks include the Cornichon, a martini variation with dill pickle distillate, and a nitrogen-infused colada; Food & Wine also mentions a Tommy's Margarita built on a birria consommé distillate. Many cocktail ingredients are farmed or foraged in the Greater Toronto Greenbelt, and plates include jambon beurre and saucisson. The bar takes no reservations.
